When to use
The evening-sedge subsurface answer: dead-drift it through the run, then let it swing up and across at the drift's end — the induced rise mimics the pupa's ascent and draws the decisive take. Fish it as the dropper over a heavier point fly, or alone on a greased leader in the last hour of light.
Imitates
The ascending sedge pupa — the stage trout take hard during evening emergence.
Team position
Dropper on a Euro or wet-fly leader; point fly only when fished shallow alone.
