When to use
The subtler half of the river sedge pair: where the elk-hair version skates and provokes, the CDC sedge sits flush and dead-drifts over fish sipping spent or stillborn sedge at dusk. Fish it upstream or across, drag-free, into the smooth water of the pool tail as the light goes.
Imitates
Low-riding adult sedges in the surface film — the quieter sipping takes of dusk, as against the splashy skated-fly takes.
